Crewe Alexandra Under-21s were on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline at Alexandra Park as Fleetwood Town take the points.

Two quick-fire goals from the visitors saw the Alex behind after 10 minutes at Reaseheath Training Ground. Calum Agius scored for the Railwaymen with a deflected effort which beat the Fleetwood keeper to get make the score line 2-1 going into the break.

Despite many penalty appeals and some excellent possession play from the young Reds, Mike Jackson's side conceded two more in the second period.

Lewis Leigh and Charlie Finney added 70 minutes to their tanks with the former currently out of first-team action due to suspension and the latter building up more time on the pitch after surgery on both calves.

The Under-21s, who currently sit bottom of the Professional Develpment League, will entertain Charlton Athletic at Mornflake Stadium next Monday (April 29).

The visitors took the lead early on through Harry Wright-Ocana and their lead was doubled just moments later from Fin Armstrong.

The Alex came close to replying instantly through Matthew Senior as Lewis Leigh's delivery into the box from a corner found the defender, but his headed effort clipped the outside of the post.

Agius got the Railwaymen back within one a few minutes before the interval with his shot catching a deflection and beating Fleetwood's goalkeeping Trialist.

Agius was free again, down the right side as he fired a powerful effort, but Trialist prevented him with a good save.

The second half started with Crewe on the ascendence with a big chance falling to Max Woodcock as he beat the offside trap. He fired low, but a good save from the Fleetwood keeper denied a certain equaliser.

Fleetwood extended their lead through a penalty which was converted from Armstrong as his penalty clipped the inside of Lenarcik's post.

Inside the last ten minutes of the game, Fleetwood made it four when a well-delivered corner found Tom Hoyle as he directed his effort into the back of the net.
