‘We can’t let these occasions pass by’ – Bell

4 May 2024

Crewe Alexandra’s young squad must embrace the challenge of the Play-Offs and not allow the occasion to just pass by.

That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who has spoken of his pride in the players after they earned a shot at promotion.

The Play-Off Semi-Final first leg is at Mornflake Stadium on Monday (5.30pm) with the return leg at Eco-Power Stadium on Friday (8pm).

But while he is satisfied with the progress made during the regular season, he wants them to sieze the opportunity that lies ahead.

Bell said: “We are extremely proud. I think we have the third youngest group in the league and you can see the progress we have made.

“It was a fairly new team put together in the summer and you never know what will happen, but after one of the preseason games the staff were saying 'we’ll have a chance with these players' - and they have proved us right.

“All the credit needs to go to the players because they have been superb. Nobody expected us to be in this position.

“But that’s gone and now we are into knockout football. We have to enjoy and embrace the next games. There is a different feel to it and a real excitement.

“We have to take the challenge on, we can’t let these occasions pass you by.”
